The Portland Youth Philharmonic is America's first youth orchestra - its genesis rooted deep in the high desert country of Burns, Oregon. Its mission is to inspire and educate young musicians 7 to 22 years of age and be a cultural asset to the community. Watch part of a rehearsal and hear from members of the orchestra. The PYP presents its first concert of the new season November 14, 2009.
David Hattner is PYP's fifth conductor and music director. He talks about the change he sees in the musicians over the course of rehearsals.
