Stream Bed Study
Water quality researchers from Oregon State University have been spending time during recent summers examining the John Day River in Central Oregon. Their purpose is to try to understand what optimal water quality conditions might be given the needs of game fish, irrigation and cattle grazing. A key tool in their examination is an infra-red camera which can measure water temperature from high altitude.

Part pack rats, part detectives, part local historians, the Portland Area Detecting Club enjoys a bizarre-looking kind of recreation. With more than half of the metal detectors in the US being made in Oregon, it's no wonder you have probably seen these detectives at parks, beaches, private properties, or construction sites.
