By determining whether or not the migrating birds are infected, experts will be able to warn the appropriate officials in advance of a possible outbreak.

Green Crabs
First spotted in Oregon in the late 1990's, the green crab is a non-native species threatening Oregon's central coast. Green crabs have a history of habitat destruction in other parts of the world. The are aggressive predators and can have a significant impact on native clams and mollusks. Although not yet a serious problem in Oregon, scientists are researching the habits of the crabs to help develop management solutions.
