- Join researchers trying to find out more about the apprehensive Sandhill Crane which spend part of their winter near Portland's Columbia River wetlands. No one knows for sure where this group of Sandhills comes from - maybe Alaska or perhaps as far away as Siberia. Researchers hope to attach GPS tracking devices to a few to find out exactly where their breeding ground is.

- Mosquitos pose potential health risks to humans. The Oregon Health Department is particularly concerned about the transmission of West Nile Virus and Western Decline Encephalitis. By sampling the mosquito population for these viruses, scientists may be able to give advanced warnings of a potential outbreak. Look at the latest efforts to try and control the mosquito population by treating pools of still water where mosquito larva live and grow.
