- Braiding Artist Bill Black

- Rawhide braiding and horsehair hitching became a paying job about ten years ago for Bill Black. It was a change for the former buckaroo, who now makes his home and workshop in the Warner Valley east of Lakeview. He spends his days stretching, scraping and cutting cow hides into pieces of functional art such as hackamores, quirts and other horse tack. In addition, Bill hitches horsehair for belts, hatbands and decorations on reins and pommels.
