- Wang Gongyi was born with China’s communist revolution, which put her on a collision course with the political turbulence of the times. But her devotion to art paid off; In the mid-1980s, she was recognized as one of China’s top artists and spent several years in France studying and expanding her artistic range. Wang has made her home in Oregon for more than a decade, where she teaches art privately and “plays” at painting and printmaking.
